You may be surprised to hear that Witney is famous for more than just the World Pooh Sticks Championships. Actually, this is only our third year in Witney so we are very grateful for the residents of the town for welcoming us so enthusiastically.
The 2017 World Pooh Sticks Championships will be held on Sunday 4th June at Langel Common in Witney, subject to council approvals.
On such a beautiful sunny day in Witney on Sunday 5th June the World Poohsticks Championships took place and everybody had a fantastic time. The rivalry between the players in both the Team and Individual events was fierce, but in the end the Rotary Club of Oxford Spires managed to find the winners for 2016.
It brings us great pleasure to announce that the Witney Music Festival will be joining in with the Poohsticks fun and sharing their joy of music with us on Sunday 5th June.
Wow! This was a truly memorable experience for the first World Pooh Sticks Championships to be held in Witney, Oxfordshire. There were hundreds of participants and spectators on Langel Common to watch the event unfold and to meet Pooh, Tigger, Owl and Piglet as well as Deb Hoffman from Wisconsin, USA, the Guinness World Record Holder of the largest Pooh & Friends Memorabilia Collection.
After 31 years of Championships on the River Thames at Day’s Lock in Little Wittenham, we will be moving to Witney!
The Championships will be run in partnership with Cogges Manor Farm, at Langel Common on the River Windrush.
