On such a beautiful sunny day in Witney on Sunday 5th June the World Poohsticks Championships took place and everybody had a fantastic time. The rivalry between the players in both the Team and Individual events was fierce, but in the end the Rotary Club of Oxford Spires managed to find the winners for 2016.
This year’s runners up and winners are:
1st – Hundred Acre Edwards – Ben, Fleur, Alex Edwards and Megan Harrison from Witney
2nd – River Styx, Inglesham
3rd – Happy Birthday Rachel, Leicester & Birdingbury
1st – Charlie Roman, Stonesfield, who came third in the 2015 event
2nd – Simone Wilson, Witney
3rd – Tom Harding, Witney
The Rotary Club of Oxford Spires would like to thank everyone involved in organising the event including Witney Town Council, Witney District Council, Cogges Manor Farm, St Mary’s Cogges Church and the volunteers from the Rotary Club of Witney, AES, Activeyes and more for helping us make this year’s World Poohsticks Championships another to remember. We would like to thank the Witney Music Festival for providing us with some great music throughout the day as well as all our other sponsors, without whom we would not be able to run this great community event. We would also like to thank local and national media who help us to promote the event that raises much needed funds for various charities that the Rotary Club supports.
