Wow! This was a truly memorable experience for the first World Pooh Sticks Championships to be held in Witney, Oxfordshire. There were hundreds of participants and spectators on Langel Common to watch the event unfold and to meet Pooh, Tigger, Owl and Piglet as well as Deb Hoffman from Wisconsin, USA, the Guinness World Record Holder of the largest Pooh & Friends Memorabilia Collection.
The Rotary Club of Oxford Spires would like to thank everyone from Witney Council, Cogges Manor Farm and St Mary’s Church and the volunteers from Rotary Club of Witney, the Girl Guides, Oxford Rotaract, Aspire, AES and more for helping us make this year’s World Pooh Sticks Championships one to remember. We would also like to thank local and national media who helped us find a new venue and help us continue to raise lots of money for charity.
This year’s winner and world champion is James Smith from Long Hanborough. Second place went to Freddie Jephcott from Witney and Charlie Roman from Stonesfield came third.
We will upload a gallery of photos shortly however you can see all the fantastic media releases here, much like one of our favourite videos here:
Thank you Witney. We hope to see everyone again in 2016!
